DAEMONVIEW 0.3
Release 0.3.5.
Windows x64 public preview · September 21, 2026
New in 0.3.5
- Florida live video uses the existing DaemonView camera card. Only the media player appears; no provider navigation or map is displayed.
- The same Refresh view, Full screen and close controls work for video and images. Unavailable streams have a labeled refreshed-image fallback.
- The camera stays open while the map position changes. Closing or switching cameras releases the previous video connection.
- Provider playback remains isolated from local records and API keys. Stream availability depends on the camera operator.
Introduced in 0.3.3
- 4,957 Florida DOT camera locations, including 242 in Jacksonville / Duval County. Images appear immediately; Watch live on FL511 opens the selected official camera.
- 1,253 Iowa DOT views, including 694 published HLS video streams.
- A larger camera viewer with direct video playback where supported, refreshed images, full screen, refresh and clear unavailable-feed handling.
- Search cameras by road, city, county or provider in the Windows app. Re-clicking a marker reopens its viewer.
Introduced in 0.3.2
- Map-first startup with optional device location and a single Settings panel.
- Microphone selection, real sound meter, local input test, silence diagnostics, transcripts and typed voice commands.
- 100 verified public dataset connections, source search, category and map filters, and Add to map.
- 16,369 public camera locations from 13 providers in the online map, enabled by default, clustered and searchable.
- Expanded desktop camera coverage across all public Caltrans and TxDOT districts.
Voice and camera improvements
- Voice reports the provider’s actual billing, quota or connection failure with an appropriate recovery step.
- Microphone approval can be remembered on this computer and reset from the Workspace menu.
- The online globe opens with a public camera layer enabled: operator-published views, source attribution, refresh controls and unavailable-image handling.
Introduced in 0.3.0
- One aligned globe toolbar replaces overlapping floating controls.
- Windows installer, native app window, bundled runtime, Start menu entry, desktop shortcut and uninstaller.
- Saved searches, exact observed-identifier connections, and a chronological record view.
- Workspace backup from the desktop menu, with application files separated from workspace data.
- A public interactive demo using synthetic records.
Included foundation
API and file ingestion, field mapping, record history, cases, evidence snapshots, notes, full filtered exports, verification hashes, watch rules, local alerts, and a spatial feature base derived from God’s Eye View.
Current limits
- Local single-user application; not a hosted team service.
- Generic connectors use GET JSON/GeoJSON/CSV. OAuth refresh, arbitrary POST requests, automatic pagination and WebSocket adapters are not implemented.
- 20 MB API response limit, 24 MB import request limit and 100,000 rows per normalization batch. Larger collections need multiple batches.
- The globe overlay considers the latest 5,000 records. Timeline and connection panels show bounded pages; record search and full filtered exports remain available.
- Identifier extraction scans the first 1 MB of raw record content, with up to 200 identifiers per record. Links are exact text matches and may need analyst interpretation.
- Hashes verify consistency, not independent custody, source accuracy or collection completeness.
- Paid/account-bound providers have not all been tested with live credentials.
- Unsigned installer and manual updates. No auto-update service is installed.
Distribution notes
The public distribution omits the upstream noncommercial TeleGeography cable dataset and Nepal event imagery/derived paths. Corresponding source registrations are excluded from the packaged app. Independently licensed data can be imported into your own workspace.
